One look at your screen can determine your mood for the day. Truth is, there is a lot going on, no matter where you get your news from. That’s their job though, isn’t it? To scare you, the viewer, so that you will remain glued to the screen. The more people who tune in, the more money they’ll make; it’s capitalism.
It’s easy for anyone to get caught up in the drama the world is going through. The sky may be falling around you, as you wonder how the hell humanity is going to get out of this mess. The trick is to turn off your screen every now and then. Yes, it is important to stay informed; however, the earth is still spinning. When you turn off the screen, the environment surrounding you isn’t as catastrophic as your television, phone, or laptop suggests. It’s almost as if the world around you isn’t that small after all; that there is still good in this life to enjoy and smile about.
God never promises tomorrow. Imagine what a waste this life would be if you spent all of your time staring at something for hours on end that will only result in your blood pressure going up. Get outside, or if not, at least interact with people. Play a board or card game with your family and friends. Take a break from the events outside of your control, because that is what they are—out of your control. We can’t control how the rest of the world is going to behave, but you, the individual, have the power to be the change you wish to see (as corny as it may be). Nothing could be truer than those words. And at the end of the day, God is still in control. Always has been, and will continue to be until the second coming of Jesus. Plus, in an insane world, we can’t afford to lose another sane person to the ship of fools!
